What We Believe.

Our Statement of Faith, like all doctrine and theology, is a declaration
about "The Truth."  It is an attempt to understand The Bible with a
​knowledge that the Word is true and complete.

Statement of Faith

The Baptist Faith and Message (BF&M) is the official statement of faith of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). It outlines core beliefs on the Bible's authority, the nature of God as the Trinity, humanity’s spiritual condition, God's grace and salvation, the role of the local church, ordinances, evangelism, Christian education, social engagement, religious liberty, and the family.

Affiliation

Witcher Baptist Church, founded in the late 19th century, played a pivotal role in the formation of the West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists (WVCSB) in 1970. Today, the convention is a collaborative network of over 200 independent Southern Baptist churches working together to “make Jesus known in and through West Virginia.”

​Ministries of WVCSB are supported through the generous contributions of West Virginia Southern Baptists, collected via the Cooperative Program and the Ola Cox State Missions Offering through local churches.

Mission

Witcher Baptist Church strives to foster intentionally rooted followers who CARE about people, COMMIT to Jesus Christ, and CHANGE their world. 

​This mission statement can be broken down into three key components:

1. "CARE about people" – The church emphasizes love, compassion, and service to others, encouraging members to support and uplift those around them.
2. "COMMIT to Jesus Christ" – A strong focus on personal dedication to Jesus, emphasizing faithfulness, obedience, and a deep relationship with Him.
3. "CHANGE their world" – Encouraging members to actively make a difference in their communities and beyond, living out their faith in a way that impacts others.
